Bloom: Best gardens in Barcelona

Barcelona has a unique mix of city vibes, sea and sun attitude, and, of course, some lovely gardens (and mountains, too!) to visit. They are a best-kept secret spot! Here’s how to explore Barcelona gardens.
The most beautiful parks in Barcelona
In the quiet and secluded neighbourhood of Horta, there is an architectural relic from the 18th century, the oldest gardens preserved in Barcelona, which also has a labyrinth; it’s the famous Labyrinth of Horta. This is a must-go visit (better if paired with a guided tour to understand its importance). Also, in the high-end neighbourhood of Pedralbes, you can find Cervantes Park, which has a unique feature: 11,000 rose gardens with 245 different varieties of roses, making it one of the best gardens in the blooming season in Barcelona. Smell the roses, they say.
Gardens with a name
In the mountain of Montjuïc, there is a garden dedicated to the Catalan poet Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer. There is a lake and a sculpture of a girl with a bouquet of lilies next to it, a beautiful place to take a stroll and find inspiration.

You can find the Jardins de Moragas at the crossroads between Carrer Tavern and Carrer Calaf. Its environmental variety is stunning: palm trees, pines, Himalayan cedars, horse chestnut trees and false peppers that are a hundred years old. Francesc Moragas, a prominent Barcelona man who contributed to the city's liberal and progressive growth, donated the land.

Publicly accessible in the middle of the city, the gardens of the Fundació Julio Muñoz have hidden away at Carrer Muntaner 282. The Julio Muñoz Ramonet Foundation was created in 1994 in response to the last will of the businessman who died in 1991. In his will, he endowed his estate on Carrer Muntaner to the city with all its contents to make it possible for the city's citizens to be visited and used to promote, disseminate and defend culture.
Going tropical in Barcelona
Amongst the botanical gardens and parks in Barcelona, there is one that is taken as the biggest and best due to its wide variety of plant species: that is, of course, the Botanical Garden. This park is home to an immense variety of vegetation from the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees and the world's most exotic areas. It is a small Amazon in the middle of the city and the perfect place, which makes it a great off-the-beaten-track visit with breathtaking views.
