All the art (and more) you can get

Walking the streets of Barcelona is often more than enough to satisfy one’s need for beauty and culture. Still, the city also has a wide variety of museums and galleries worth visiting. Let us tell you about them!
The most visited of them all
When you think of museums, you always think of art, don’t you? But what if we told you that the top museums in Barcelona in number of visitors are not devoted to art? Or, at least, have a broader definition of what constitutes art, that is. In 2021 the most visited museum in Barcelona was CaixaFòrum. It belongs to a foundation devoted to offering an extensive programme of exhibitions and cultural and educational activities. And its site, Casa Ramona –an old modernist cotton factory– would be worth the visit even if it wasn’t one of the most exciting things to do in town. And just across the street from Casa Ramona you can find the Mies van der Rohe Pavillion, a reproduction of the German pavilion the genius architect built for the World exhibit in 1929. It is amazing to think that something so futuristic was constructed at the beginning of the xx century.

“Everything you can imagine is real.”
…Picasso famously said. And he did imagine—a lot. But to really get to know this artist and his boundless imagination, you must visit one of Barcelona’s best art museums: the Museu Picasso in El Born. Picasso himself wanted it for the city that saw his birth as an artist and was involved in its creation. The medieval buildings where you can find it hold exhibits about Picasso's context, his art and how this force of nature was a complicated genius worth trying to understand and enjoy.

The MACBA, the MNAC, the Museu Marés, Foto Collectània, the dozens of galleries… The cultural plans in Barcelona are endless, and they will keep you busy and have you learning and enjoying for months!
